Our Story
We met formally in 2013 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Jannah was working full-time on campus and Kiyanna was finishing up her Master’s Degree and working part-time. We had mutual friends on staff and in a social justice training in August 2013, we learned that not only were we both from Brooklyn, but our childhood homes were 600 feet away from one another in Flatbush.
By December 9th, 2013, we began embarking on a romantic relationship - hence the significance of our nuptials on this special day in 2023. This December, we not only celebrate the milestone accomplishment of ten years in an intentional, loving, joyous, community-minded and reciprocal partnership. We also celebrate the beginning of a new chapter, married in the eyes of the state, witnessed by our village and ancestors. Please join us as we enter marital union and celebrate our life-long commitment to legacy-building, and honor the past 10 years, while calling in abundant love for the Stewart-Handy family for years to come.
